When You Thought I Wasn’t Looking

When you thought I wasn’t looking I saw you hang my
First painting on the refrigerator, and I immediately
Wanted to paint another one.

When you thought I wasn’t looking I saw you feed a
Stray cat, and I learned that it was good to be kind
To animals.

When you thought I wasn’t looking I heard you say a
Prayer, and I knew that there is a God I could always
Talk to, and I learned to trust in Him.

When you thought I wasn’t looking I saw you make a
Meal and take it to a friend who was sick, and I
Learned that we all have to help take care of each other.

When you thought I wasn’t looking I saw you take care
Of our house and everyone in it, and I learned we have
To take care of what we are given.

When you thought I wasn’t looking I saw how you
Handled your responsibilities, even when you didn’t
Feel good, and I learned that I would have to be
Responsible when I grow up.

When you thought I wasn’t looking I saw tears come
From your eyes, and I learned that sometimes things
Hurt, but it’s all right to cry.

When you thought I wasn’t looking I saw that you
Cared, and I wanted to be everything that I could be.

When you thought I wasn’t looking I learned most of
life’s lessons that I need to know to be a good and
Productive person when I grow up.

When you thought I wasn’t looking I looked at you and
Wanted to say, ‘Thanks for all the things I saw when
You thought I wasn’t looking.’

The Lord’s Prayer Poem

Our Heavenly Father above, Creator of love
Holy and Sacred is Your Name
Your Kingdom come, Your Will be done
As it is in heaven be it on earth the same

I need to be Holy Spirit led and spiritually fed
Only You can help me understand and see
Help my pride erase to give others grace
Just as you have given grace to me

And this I pray, please keep evil away
So though I am tempted I will not do wrong
I long to honor You in all I say and do
And to be faithful my whole lifelong.

Forever you reign, in your glorious domain
Your Sovereign Power will never end
You are the truth and the way, in Your name I pray
My precious Lord Jesus. Amen

God Bless The Mothers

God bless the the mothers,
the ones who rock their children
and place them in warm cradles.

God bless the mothers,
the ones who wrap their children
and hide them from bullets and terror.

God bless the mothers,
those who take their children
to the movies, and buy them popcorn.

God bless the mothers
those who feed them their own
portion of food, saying they are not hungry.

God bless the mother’s
the ones whose children do well
in school, and get straight A’s

God bless the mothers
the ones whose children
steal cars, take drugs and drop out.

God bless the mothers
those who have children who
are born perfect, whole and healthy.

God bless the mothers
whose children cannot walk
or hear or see.

God bless the mothers
whose children grow up
and have children of their own.

God bless the mothers
who lose a child, and
spend a lifetime mourning.

God bless the mothers
who go to church on Sunday
and take their children with them.

God bless the mothers
who stay home on Sunday
and bake cookies and read.

God bless the mothers
who give money to charity
and send food to the food banks.

God bless the mothers
who wait in line, hoping
for a decent meal and a bed.

God bless the mothers
whose children pray at night
beside their warm cozy beds.

God bless the mothers
whose children cry out in hunger.
And shiver in the cold.

God bless the mothers
who sing to their children
and rock them to sleep.

God bless the mothers
who sing without music
and dance without reason.

God bless the mothers.

Is This Your Child?

Is this your child?
someone asked me
when I was shopping
in a crowded store.

Is this your child?

I stopped for a moment
and looked at
at my son.
He hadn’t let me
comb his hair
that day,
and he wore his
favorite teeshirt
which was
decorated
in ketchup red
and chocolate
brown.

His face was smudged
and dirty,
we had been
to the park
and he had fallen
in a mud puddle.
He was singing
God Bless America
over and over
in his offpitch
voice.

Is this your child?

She asked again
I looked into her
unfriendly eyes
and cringed at
her tone of voice.

Taking a deep breath
I ruffled that unruly hair
kissed his smudgy cheek.
Turning to face her
I answered
loudly and proudly

“Oh yes,
this is my child
his name is Dhylan
Isn’t he wonderful?”

The “WHY” Of It All

He carried His cross despising the shame
To the place of the skull, Golgotha by name
And there with two thieves, His friends’ hopes all lost,
Was man’s greatest error now hung on a cross

He held back His power, His glory was veiled
He silenced His tongue as accusations were railed
He submitted His body to torture and pain
And saw through it all a glorious gain

Oh what sight could hold Him, this King of all Kings
What glory awaited that only shame brings?

The One who spoke galaxies, wisdom and life
Laid aside all His power without any strife
And WHY would He do it? The question looms large
Accept accusations, absorb every charge

The smoke finally clears as the veil rips away
And eyes filled with tears see truth bright as day
Humbled and willing I bow to my knee
Jesus! Oh Jesus! You did it for me…..

Why Do We Crucify Him Again?

I say something rude
to someone who’s lost,
And I’ve ruinded my witness,
But they will pay the cost.
So I nail in the nails.

Can anyone see the Lord through me,
Or do they simply see my sins?
Am I living the life Christ wants me to,
Am I living the life of man?
So I plunge in the spear.

And when I fail to pray,
and my conversations with Him fade,
Does He patiently wait for my call,
Though it causes Him pain?
And I place the thorns upon His brow.

I lead a life of double standards,
One day good, the next one bad.
Can He quietly stand by
When He sees all I could have had?
And I ridicule my Lord once again.

For you see,
Each time we turn our backs,
and return to the world of sin,
It is then that you and I,
We crucify Him again.

I Give You

I give you the sun,
and I give you the rain.
I give you the air to breathe,
and I give you the grain.

I give you the mountains to climb,
and I give you the sea to explore.
I give you words to rhyme,
and I give you lions that roar.

But you never look up once to thank me
for the blessings I have given thee.
And you’re always much too busy to think of me,
yet I love you and will wait for you,
pray you’ll come to see.

I give you the birds that fly,
and I give you the earth and sky.
I give flowers that bloom,
and I give you the stars and moon.

But you never look up once to thank me
for the blessings I have given thee.
And you’re always much too busy think of me,
yet I love you and will wait for you,
pray you’ll come to see.

The Marianiser

Walking daily with Mary
Accompanied by God :
The Father, the Son,
And the Holy Spirit…
A radical freedom
And ultimately
A near deification
Beyond comprehension
Based upon intimacy with
The Mother of Our Saviour
Who is The Mother of us all.

An Irishman’s Gratitude

Gratitude to the One
Who created and blessed the world
Through His Holy Spirit,
Adding colour to foliage and stone,
The sky and the sea…

For the scent of plants, the taste of fruit,
Our food and the good therein…
The chorus at dawn
In a pageantry of light and shade…
The sun’s warmth,
The touch of hail, wind, rain and snow…
Our parents, our children, each other,
Our country…

Oh at this moment and forever
To our poet Father, the God of beauty and of love,
Who sent us the Word via the womb of Mary
Our eternal gratitude.

Our Blessed Host

Oh most blessed Host
And eternal God
We adore You
And we love You
For You gave us life
And You redeemed us.

At all times may we
Be in a state of grace
For Your presence
Sacramentally
And spiritually
Within our hearts.

Oh most blessed Host
We are sincerely sorry
For having offended You
And sincerely we thank You
For all that You have done for us
Now and forever
Amen

The Ballad Of Jesus

By the grace of The Spirit
Our Lord He came forth
From the womb of Mary
An immaculate source.

To redress Adam’s fall
Was Our Saviour’s cause
Miracles and preaching
About spiritual laws.

For three years toiling
With no day at a loss
Sowing seeds of life in
The shadow of a cross.

And when the time came
To redeem humanity
Lord Jesus was crucified
And died on a Friday.

All was ordained prior
To His birth in a stable
Offering life to our race
God’s loving life eternal.

And in a grace filled day
Just a few days later
He arose from the dead
Confirming His nature.

The Will Of God

The will of God will never take you,
Where the grace of God cannot keep you.
Where the arms of God cannot support you,
Where the riches of God cannot supply your needs,

The will of God will never take you,

What Do Angels Look Like?

Like the little old lady who returned your wallet yesterday.

Like the taxi driver who told you that your eyes light up the world, when you smile.

Like the small child who showed you the wonder in simple things.

Like the poor man who offered to share his lunch with you.

Like the rich man who showed you that it really is all possible, if only you believe.

Like the stranger who just happened to come along, when you had lost your way.

Like the friend who touched your heart, when you didn’t think you had one.

Angels come in all sizes and shapes, all ages and skin types.

Some with freckles, some with dimples, some with wrinkles, some without.

They come disguised as friends, enemies teachers, students, lovers and fools.

They don’t take life too seriously, they travel light.

They leave no forwarding address, they ask nothing in return.

They are hard to find when your eyes are closed, but when you choose to see, they are everywhere you look.

So, open you eyes and count all your Angels — for you are truly blessed!

Another Day

Another day is dawning
Another day’s begun
Another day to turn to God
and pray, “Thy will be done”

A day to slay doubt’s dragon,
To know within your soul
That as you give yourself to Him
He’ll bless and make you whole.

A day to live with purpose
A day to show you care
When others turn to you distraught
Confused or in despair

A day to share God’s blessings
In quiet countless ways
That touch the heart with hope and joy
And brighten cloudy days

A day for sweet rejoicing
For gratitude and praise
Because His love enfolds you
Both now, and all your days.

The Ballad Of Mary

I’ll sing of a maiden
With a beauty so rare
Mother of Our Saviour
From the land of Israel.

Requested by Gabriel
To bring forth God’s Son
The Redeemer of all
From the evil of sin.

Oh Immaculate Virgin,
Dear Mother of us all,
Your “Yes” was required
To redress Adam’s fall.

And now loving Spouse
Of the Spirit of Love
We desire to bring others
To share in our trove.

And as Our Lord Jesus
Is always with You
May we draw ever closer
To walk with You two…

For life is a vocation
To follow Your Son
God’s source of salvation
For each and everyone.

World’s Greatest Chef

I love the taste of T-bone steak,
Delicious every bite,
But there’s nothing like the Word of God,
For my spiritual appetite.

The Word of God has milk and meat,
And even ice cream and cake.
Take a slice of the Bread of Life,
And coffee to keep us awake.

Open your Bible and turn to Psalms,
For David’s famous buffet.
You can drink all the wine of the Word you want,
And still feel fine the next day.

There’s enough of the Word for everyone,
And no one has to cheat.
The Word of God is a smorgasbord,
So take all you are able to eat.

Let’s have a little long suffering,
Job gives the recipe.
Patience is the main ingredient,
Self denial is the fee.

Wrap that up in temperance,
It may not make much sense,
Cover that with contentment,
Then add some joy! for strength.

Let’s have love for dessert,
Jesus made this dish,
Cream of joy and peace together,
Sift out all selfishness.

Add some deeds of righteousness,
Enough to make it sweet.
Humility is the frosting,
That makes the dish complete.

Or are you on a diet,
Cause the race seems hard to run.
For a weight losing menu,
Try Hebrews 12 and 1.

Are you suffering from malnutrition,
And don’t know what to do?
Your spiritual growth seems hindered,
Try I Peter 2 and 2.

If when every time you battle,
the enemy always wins,
Try some Holy Ghost Protein,
And spiritual vitamins.

God’s Word can feed millions,
And still have plenty left.
Because the Word of God is Soul Food,
Sent from the World’s Greatest CHEF.

Womb Murder

In cooperation with
Our fathers and mothers
God ensures
The conception
Of each of us
In our mothers wombs.

Yet, there are those
Who support
The destruction
Of a heart beat
Leaving a baby lifeless.

And if I had been
Such a victim
What is now condemned
Through this piece of simple verse
Would not have contained
My signature.

Murder is murder is murder…!

The Cursillo Song

My friend is Jesus,
My friend is Jesus,
For he loves me
And I love him.

We walk the road
Of life together,
From break of dawn
To break of dawn.

Oh I love Jesus,
My friend forever,
Who died for all
On that leafless tree.

And I will bring
A friend to Jesus:
To walk with him,
To walk with me.

A Walk With God

The gentleness of Bethlehem
And the horror of Calvary
Emanated from God’s love
For all of His creation
But especially humanity.

The gift of His Spirit
Is the flow of Love
Into our hearts
For God is thee Lover.

In return we must
Be open to Jesus,
Trust in Him,
And give Him space
In our hearts
For the gift He bestows.

For that is what life
Is all about: A walk with God
In and as part of Creation
On our way to where
The Word reigns forever.

Thus, we must be centred upon
Jesus, that is, God centred,
And in all things centred
Upon love For God is Love.

Life of Jesus

From the mystery of a Trinity
A promised coming to save mankind
Becoming man through a Virgin’s purity
An exacting problem for the mind

For thirty years experiencing obscurity
Preparing humbly for an oblation
To free the souls of humanity
From the depths of sin and perdition

Later preaching and working miracles
Sowing virtue like springtime seed
Endorsing the old laws ancient articles
And preaching love as the new laws creed

In those three years building a body
Overseen by a man of the sea
Then finally rejected as a nobody
He accepted death on a Calvary tree

Alongside thieves He slowly died there
Confirming death by an open heart
Releasing streams of saving care
Which set his followers from others apart

In another’s tomb they finally laid Him
But within a few days He arose again
The conqueror of death and destructive sin
Who from within The Trinity now does reign

The Path To Hope

The path to Hope, is not far away
Look around, don’t go astray

Life is a journey, Life is short
Life is amazing, Life is comfort

Take my hand and walk with me
Life gives us clues, not the map you see

Don’t wait for better things to come
When Faith is Hope, Hope becomes

Enjoy what life brings your way
Live it now, every single day

Don’t sit and wonder, what might have been
For this alone, is a sinful sin

Take a chance on what tomorrow may be
Open your eyes and you will see

The gift of life is for me and you
Pick it up, this Hope is too

Be good to each other as each other can be
Love one another and you will see

Hope is there leading the way
To greener pastures is what they say

Hope is there, do you hear it call
It is for one, it is for all

Bad times will be a thing of the past
The Hope of salvation is there to last

Love one another as Jesus told us to do
Forgive one another as He forgives you

Hail Redeemer

Hail Redeemer of our race
The Paschal Lamb of Love
Born as man to Mary pure
As Angels sang above

On Calvary You saved our souls
By the shedding of Your blood
Accepting death by Father’s will
As you hung there on the wood

Hail redeemer of our race
The Paschal Lamb of Love
Intensify our love for You
As through life we move

And when our mortal life is o’er
May we to Your Heart wend
Adherents of Your Holy Cross
True lovers to the end!

Come, Oh Man, Turnback To God

Come, oh man, turnback to God
For He is The Creator of what’s good
Who because of sin offered Jesus
His beloved Son to save our kind

Oh throughout world history
Others were placed on pedestals
But only Jesus can bring us joy
Protecting us from cancerous sin

And as The Spirit via His followers
Wrote the New Testament of His word
Our Lord established His Church upon
Peter to ensure His truth would be heard.

In Your Arms Daddy

Be still God’s dearest child
You are safe in the arms of Jesus
He is holding you close on His lap

He opens His hand asking you to place
all your cares and worries in His palms
Place all your beloved ones in His palms
He will take care of them

He knows your heart better than yourself baby
He is holding your head close to His chest and
asking you to be happy and confident in the Lord

You are very valuable and precious in His eyes
He is ready to listen to you every second
And unlike others He will understand
your pains and tears the way you feel it

What more do you need than His love
He will give you all you need
All praises to our Sweetest Jesus
All Praises to our most loving Heavenly Father

The Touch of The Master’s Hand

‘Twas battered and scarred and the auctioneer
Thought it scarcely worth his while
To waste much time on the old violin,
But he held it up with a smile.

“What am I bid, good folk?” he cried.
“Who’ll start the bidding for me?
A dollar, a dollar … now two … only two …
Two dollars, and who’ll make it three?

“Three dollars once, three dollars twice,
Going for three” … but no!
From the room far back a gray-haired man
Came forward and picked up the bow.

Then wiping the dust from the old violin
And tightening up the strings,
He played a melody pure and sweet,
As sweet as an angel sings.

The music ceased, and the auctioneer,
With a voice that was quiet and low,
Said, “What am I bid for the old violin?”
As he held it up with the bow.

“A thousand dollars … and who’ll make it two?
Two…two thousand, and who’ll make it three?
Three thousand once and three thousand twice …
Three thousand and gone!” said he.

The people cheered, but some exclaimed
“We do not quite understand …
What changed it’s worth?” and the answer came:
” ‘Twas the touch of the master’s hand.”

And many a man with soul out of tune
And battered and scarred by sin
Is auctioned cheap by the thoughtless crowd
Just like the old violin.

But the Master comes, and the foolish crowd
Never can quite understand
The worth of a soul, and the change that is wrought
By the touch of the master’s hand.

O Master! I am the tuneless one
Lay, lay Thy hand on me,
Transform me now, put a song in my heart
Of melody, Lord, to Thee!

I Surrender My Gift

I surrender My Gift
to Him who set me free.
I will follow His precepts
and light the way for me.

I thought I’d find happiness
in things I could buy,
but soon came to realize
they had left me dry.

I worked long and hard
and reached goals with pride,
but when I arrived,
I felt empty inside.

I then sought fame and fortune
to find peace and joy,
but the cost was My Gift,
it nearly destroyed.

So My Gift I surrender,
to Him who created me;
I will follow His leading,
till His face I see.

Come To The Mother’s Lap

There is a place
Where you feel safe
There is a place
Where evil cannot harm you.

There is a place
Where fear becomes impotent
Where the diseased heart
Is healed.

Come to the mother’s lap
Here you feel safe
Here the evil in the world
It is forgotten in a loving embrace.

Come to the mother’s lap
Here the storms subside
Here all the pain of your soul
It is comforted by the virgin of the sorrows.

Come to the mother’s lap
Receive today the most motherly
Warm hug in this world
She is blessing you today!

The Dark Shadow

All appears well
As we pursue
What is best for us
And others
And that can be
The most desirable,
The most admirable
Objectives imaginable.

But, it can be
The experience
Of a reality called
‘A dark shadow’
Which seduces us
From the path of truth
And the reason
For our existence.

A threat which has
To be overcome
If we are to realise
Our true destiny…

For some it can be
Intellectual pursuit,
Riches, or the search
For sensual pleasure…
But thanks to God
One can escape
By having recourse
Through prayer
For what is best for us.

Happy Birthday Mother Mary

8th September – your birthday,
O Queen of heaven, all say;
The grace that filled your heart, aye,
Gave us and world, a mighty day.

O Maria Bambina!
Daughter of Joachim and Anne;
You acceded to God’s request
Through angel Gabriel.

You grew up in great piety;
God chose you from amongst women
A virgin to mother a child,
A baby boy, Immanuel!

By pow’r of Spirit Holy,
You bore the sacred baby,
In your womb of sanctity,
O Mother Virgin Mary.

Hail Mary, Mother of Jesus;
Heavenly mother of mankind;
Look down with mercy upon us,
Ask God to cleanse our sin-stained souls!

O New Eve of the world of men!
The Word became flesh in your womb,
And born was the Lord, ‘King of Kings’:
You trounced Satan forever then.

Conceived without Original Sin,
Becoming Mother of God;
You set aside all Natural laws,
And gave birth to the Lord.

You brought Salvation to mankind
Through Jesus Christ your son,
Who came as Savior, Messiah,
And suffered a death on cross!

O Lady of great chastity!
You obeyed Almighty’s one wish;
Exalted more than angels, saints,
Heaven is now your true abode.

O perfect vessel made by God!
Filled by grace up to the brim;
The most blessed among women,
Our Intercessor, Pure of heart.

O Mary most immaculate,
Assumed into heaven by God;
Do pray for us sinners on earth
And protect souls from fire of hell.
