All appears well
As we pursue
What is best for us
And others
And that can be
The most desirable,
The most admirable
Objectives imaginable.
But, it can be
The experience
Of a reality called
‘A dark shadow’
Which seduces us
From the path of truth
And the reason
For our existence.
A threat which has
To be overcome
If we are to realise
Our true destiny…
For some it can be
Intellectual pursuit,
Riches, or the search
For sensual pleasure…
But thanks to God
One can escape
By having recourse
Through prayer
For what is best for us.
